I have it preordered, it's just sitting uninstalled on my Steam games list right now...
I am guessing that they will start preloading Tuesday.
Anyway, is anyone else getting Bioshock 2? I liked the original, and I was able to preorder for only $35, so I went ahead and got it.
What do you guys think?
ITT: Bioshock, Bioshock 2
Been playing it for a while. So far, the single player is fantastic, with a few issues regarding respawn.
I don't know if I just suck at these games, or the game is at fault, but it seems like there will always be several points in the game in which a respawn point (Vita-Chamber) is very close to an abundance of enemies, but very far away from any vending machines/health stations. This means that if you do run out of health and die, you begin a seemingly endless cycle. You better hope you have enough ammo to get you out eventually, or you may be smacking big daddies to death until you can find your way to an ammo machine. Other than that little annoyance that plagues both Bioshock AND Bioshock 2, the game is awesome. But then again, like I said, maybe I just suck.
The multiplayer, however, leaves no doubt in my mind that it has some series balance and connection issues. I don't think I'm going to be playing much multiplayer until they make some drastic changes to weapon strength. In case you don't know, weapons in Bioshock 2 Multiplayer are unlocked by ranking up. Now I have no series objections to this system, as long as unlocking weapons still keeps the game in good balance. However, the higher-ranking weapons are just so much more powerful than the low ranking weapons that they destroy game balance for those who don't have them.
For examble, I was doing relatively well with my pistol (I like the pistol over the shotgun and machine gun, I don't know why). I continued killing people with relative ease until I was confronted with someone who had unlocked the grenade launcher. I was killed practically instantly. Upon respawn, I found myself unable to kill him 90% of the time thereafter due to the fact that I was shooting a .357 and he was shooting explosives. If the grenade launcher does THAT kind of damage, I don't even want to KNOW what the crossbow, nailgun and elephant gun are like... I haven't seen one yet (possibly because I don't play multiplayer anymore), but I'll just <cowboy> intil then that the nailgun launches airstrikes and the elephant gun launches nuclear warheads.
So from someone who is of undetermined progress through the campaign: Single Player - Awesome. Multi - not so much....
